Charmaine is flying freely now

My god daughter Charmaine has left us with a smile on her face. She is in a pain-free place where she could walk, run and jump around and do all the things she wants to do. We may have lost her but she lives in our hearts.

Charmaine,
Thank you for waiting for Godma to come back to Singapore before saying your last goodbye. You are ever so considerate to the people around you.

I know you're having lots of fun in the world you are in right now. I know you are watching us from above with your toothy grin and cheeky smile. Are there lots of rainbows there? Is there a Sentosa there? Is there your favourite Universal Studios with roller coasters there too? Will you tell me the answer in my dreams later? Will you give me some sign to tell me whenever you are around?

We know that you have finally found peace and happiness after this long and hard battle. You know what? You have already won the "monster" a long time ago by showing "monster" how tough you are.

You are our little warrior.

You are our champion.

You are our feisty little princess.

Feisty Char needs bullets to fight!

  1. My thoughts, prayers, and heart is with your entire family (all of them).

You are right, she's no longer in pain but in a happy place.

  2. I'm so sorry Jo. You and all of her loved ones have my deepest sympathy. Her stay here was far too short, but she generated a lifetime of love during those few years.

Maybe she's playing with Simba and, for some reason, I think she's building a snowman. I don't know why that popped into my head.

  4. OMG Jo, i am so sorry to hear that. Just yesterday I was on Charmaine's blog, my heart goes out to the mother and Charmaine's brother. I see her smiling down on everyone, thanking them for their support. And if you can, check back on my blog in the next few days. I'm working on a post that I had your godniece in mind (i know that this sounds cryptic, but you have to trust me on this). Once again, I am so sorry for your loss :(

  7. I am just speechless, Jo. I don't know you or Chamarine in real life but I could feel the courage, despair and eventually loss from following her stories. She was here for a reason, to be loved and to teach us some very important lessons in lives.

My heart and prayers go to Charmarine's mother and her brother. Her mama is an incredible and extraordinary woman. I wish only the good things to happen in her life from now.

  8. I'm so sorry for your loss, Jo. She is in a better place now, free from pain and suffering, and she will be most revered and remembered fondly by the people whom she has touched and filled with joy even for just a brief period of time. My prayers go out to her and to the loved ones she has left behind.

    Cheers,

  9. Dear Jolene, I'm at a loss of what to say as I know no amount of words would console you. Im not very good at words so forgive me if I sound funny.

You sound at ease in this post so I hope you are feeling better to know that Charmaine is away from the pain and suffering and that she is in good hand up there. I feel so sad hearing this news but I know it's also good that she can fly free now. She will be up there watching all of you too and yes, she live in your heart. I read your blog for a long time and I feel like I know Charmaine too and she is such a strong little girl and everything that people know her for.

I want to also tell Cynthia to be strong for Jase and for Jase to continue being a good son to Cynthia. Cynthia has been a great mother and from this whole story, I learn about love and determination and courage.

Continue to live life as it is for Charmaine as she would want to see you all doing that. Big hugs to you, Cynthia and Jase.

  10. I've read your blog posts about how Charmaine has fought with cancer.. :( She was very young and brave.

Actually, you were all brave. I think you all helped her and gave her strength to pull through during hard times.

    Hugs.

Smile for her Jo. You are right, heaven has just added one angel. And she is watching you and all her loved ones now.

  12. Thank you all who left your heartfelt words here. I really appreciate it.

PS: Rick, When we were in NYC, she wanted to build a larger snowman but alas the snow melted by boxing day. The snow that fell on new year's eve wasn't enough to build a snowman. Probably she really is building a snowman and that's why that image popped in your mind!
