I think I'll be dressing up as Singapore's latest nightmare later.

I'll be wearing zipbra preens bigini with kaki green. Or maybe I'll wear something RAD and LOUD, you know, something that's very BOOMZ.

Ok seriously I'll be dressing up as clueless.

It's the last lesson of the academic year with my kids later and we'll be having fun with the enrichment activities. So work first and worry later about what to dress up as.

~

On a separate note, we'll throw HAMA and all worries out of the window for now and hope that on the other side of the globe, Cyn mommy and the sweeties would be having fun going trick or treating with some really great people.

Happy Halloween everyone!

CHEERS!

Cool Halloween Make Up Tutorials

This post is for my Halloween buddies.

I started viewing Michelle Phan’s make up tutorial videos to get some ideas for Halloween make up. I’ve not read her blog for the longest time ever and only started once more when a colleague of mine was telling me how she learnt how to use old name cards as mascara application guards from Michelle Phan. The next day, I brought back a stack of useless name cards from work and copied her method. =D

Michelle Phan has got some really cool make up tutorials with great music and smooth voiceovers.

Tif suggested going blonde so here are 2 cool blonde get up for Halloween:

1. Plastic Barbie Beauty [Must watch]

2. Lady Gaga Poker Face [Must watch]

Hmm… is Sailormoon considered blonde? [Can skip]

I really love the first 2 make up but dunno whether got time to buy blonde wig leh.

My personal favourites would be the dark look like the vampire and masquerade look:

1. Seductive vampire [Must watch]

2. Mysterious Masquerade Look... Love her self-made mask! [Must watch]

Eyes are the windows to the soul. Dressing up the eye could very well be dressing up for Halloween. Here are 4 ideas to consider for jazzing up the eyes:

1) Iridescent aurora eyes… Love how translucent her pupils accentuates the whole aurora feel! [Must watch]

2) Leopard print eyes [Can skip]

3) Anime Eyes… Anyone wanna go for the cutesy look? [Can skip]

4) Fallen dark angel – Not Michelle Phan but I love the long feathery lashes that were painted on. [Must watch]

Going Goth

For Halloween 2009, my siao onz frenz decided to have a major get-together and dress up similarly in a group like in 2006 for the reason that "we are not young anymore".

When this sms came, I thought to myself, "Shiet! You mean another year has passed?"

It seems like it wasn't too long ago that I dressed up as Pian Pian the pernicious Chinese ghost.

For the past 2 years, we went in smaller groups.

We didn't dress up in 2007 at all.

As for last year, I was more into the broken dolly, Corpse Bride look or anything Tim Burtonish.

Ideas that poured in included:
- Revenge of the nerds
- Fallen cupids
- Dark theme

Nerds are cool but it's halloween, not fancy dress. Most Singaporeans tend to treat Halloween as a fancy dress party. Unless we go as dead or gory nerds, then I would be fine with it. Hollers to evan,

I JUST MADE A PAIR OF NERDS SPECS BTW!

As for fallen cupids, we can reuse our wings from 2006 but how to depict "cupid" and "fallen"?

I asked tif if we are gonna be dressed in diapers with a droppy wing or both wings with feathers plucked off to show that we're cupids and to be covered in cuts and bruises to show that we've literally "fallen". Tif thought the fallen bit was good but added in a matter-of-fact tone that we could get raped by going in diapers.

-_-

Diaoz

I didn't wanna spend too much on costume... just wanna play around with various make up effects and so insisted on my dark theme. I was rather inspired by my colleague who dressed up as L from Death Note for our co's D&D recently.

So I went surfing around for ideas and pictures of goth make up.

I love such goth eyes!

And I love the fallen angel tattoo on this girl.

Aww... what a sweet little goth girl!

This isn't gothic but I do think that this lady is so beautiful. There's this air of melancholy around her.

Ok so I was playing around with my limited cosmetics that I have over here and the result is this...

Not very gothic and certainly pales in comparison to all the goth make up above. However, it's worth the try. I'm missing with fake spidery eyelashes and talcum powder for the ghastly pale look.

Since we're on the topic of halloween, we could actually employ these techniques taught in the Samsung ad and morph from ugly to beauty when we snap photos.

With lotsa hearts and hisses,
(Trying to be) Goth Jo
