I posted about being one of the ambassadors of ClubCouture 2011 a while back. In January, a photoshoot was arranged for all the ambassadors. It was rather difficult coordinating a date which all of us could keep to, so separate photoshoots were arranged. The lovely people at ClubCouture had just sent us some behind the scenes photos that day which I'll share with all of you.
A gentle reminder before I continue:
The photos that you see here do not belong to me and hence are not watermarked. Please refrain from using the photos without prior permission. Thank you.
My photoshoot was together with Regina, a good friend of mine. It was scheduled on the weekend when I got back from Maldives. You could see how tanned I was in comparison to fair and radiant reg.
What happened before the shoot...
Left column (top to bottom): jo reading and signing the contract; reg reading and signing the contract
Right column (top to bottom): Hair & make up for us; jo in the process of make up; jo requesting to turn the chair to watch reg's photoshoot while hair was being styled
We did some pair shots to warm up first.
For my black outfit solo shots, I was wearing the chiffon swing dress in black. The dress was a little short for me as a swing dress. I was initially supposed to wear a sexy black number which was even shorter than this, I couldn't come out from the bathroom without looking indecent. LoL... I guess I didn't look like my full height from my blog and the lovely people at ClubCouture had thought I was quite petite. No sweat! I like this cute black number, especially the charming little black satin tie that went with it.
Left column (top to bottom): trying very hard to pose; I can't think of anymore poses
Right column (top to bottom): thinking how I should pose with the ladder prop; I look like I'm conducting an orchestra
My next outfit was the monochrome printed dress. This dress is completely sold out on their website. It reminds me of what Eva Longoria as Gabrielle would wear in Desperate Houswives. I really love this dress a lot! I do not own any of such prints in my wardrobe and it certainly isn't my usual style but I love how it brought out a different side of me.

Posing came naturally for the other ambassadors!
Left column (top to bottom): Crystal Shong; Holly Jean; Esther Xie
Right column (top to bottom): Melissa Faith Yeo; Regina Chow
Clothes for the shoot
Some personal thoughts of mine...
I was (still am) so terribly green at posing for studio shots! Taking a million photos of myself and taking photos for studio shots are two completely different matter.
The only studio shoot I did so far was my wedding indoor shots. The camera man was this Ah Beng who bonded very well with kh and we just had to act normally, laugh ourselves silly at his jokes and all these candid moments would be captured. For some shots, he would instruct us on what to do and so I merely stopped working my brains and followed blindly.
However, for this photoshoot. I've to constantly rack my brain for new poses and I just could not do it. I kept recalling what I watched on America's Next Top Model but still I did not know how to stand, where to place my hands, what to do with the props and how to think of continuous poses. Not to mention, I'm not used to wearing stilettos. I was basically trying to walk on the slippery paperish layer without falling and I moved like a robot throughout.
It was fortunate that Flora and Kaitlyn were such sweet sweet babes and ever so patient with me. Kaitlyn even taught me how to do a few poses and boy was she au naturel! She could just be standing casually but her photos turned out like some fashion spread.
I think I blabber too much. I'm sure all of you are dying to see how the final photos turned out. Here they are! Don't laugh k? I'm not a pro. =P

I love the monochrome printed dress! I don't even see it anymore on the website! Are they going to restock??
ReplyDeleteThanks for the sweet comment you left on my blog, Jo ^^ How funny you came through Kevin's blog (I call him both turtle and Kevin)
ReplyDeletePeople often ask me if I had my hair done, but it's all natural. It started curling when I was 10 and stayed like that ever since.
Aww, photo shoot! Looks like such an exciting experience... I think it's normal you were a bit lost on what position to take, especially if you haven't done a lot of shoots before. I think if it were me, I'd look weird in all of the pictures. But you look so pretty! Stunning actually :)
And you're always welcome to pop by, I think I might visit you more often as well!
You look absolutely beautiful!! Nice photoshoot, i love photoshoots especially getting your make-up and hair and clothes done! Always soooo exciting and fun! Thank you for dropping by my blog and leaving a lovely comment, the event was just an ordinary party, not law related at all :) xX
ReplyDeleteHi! Thanks for stopping by my blog! I was reading through some posts and I love you blog! The photoshoot looks like so much fun! I tihnk I would be so nervous to be in front of a camera shot by a photographer. LoL.
ReplyDeleteWhat does tai tai mean btw? haha
I think you look really pretty in those shots! You don't look like you're not used to studio shots at all. What an exciting experience!
ReplyDeleteOmg, I know what you mean! Now that I've a personal style blog, I thought I'd be able to use the knowledge I gained from religiously watching ANTM...no, totally uncomfortable in front of the camera :P
Re your comment on my blog, you're very welcomed, dearie. No hurry and no obligation, just wanted to let you know your blog is fab!
Haha...I'm your neighbour, really. I'm actually from Malaysia, but have just been here in the UK for 5 years. I thought the novelty of actually living through snowy winters would wear off, but nope, still love snow. I understand what you mean, though, all my British friends hate snow. Everyone here whines and complains if there is so much as a snowflake! :D
P/S: When you called the camera man Ah Beng I lol-ed haha
you look like a pro tho! The pictures came out so good (and I like the second one the most). Yes you're right, you look SO tanned from Maldives. Was it a lot of fun? Sorry maybe I haven't followed enough, what do you look for career? You seem like you're always having SO much fun!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness you two look gorgeous!! So so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteWow this sounds like it was such a fun opportunity for you, and I think the photos came out awesome :)
ReplyDeletewow how lucky a photoshoot. you look gorgeous!!
ReplyDeletereplying to your post on my blog: YES, i believe he does wear red boots hehe. and i did change the border of my blog i think you're the only one who has noticed! it's kinda under construction right now.
keep posting cute gal
Crystal Luvz,
ReplyDeleteI love it too but it’s OOS. I don’t think they would restock coz their stocks come in limited quantity for each design so as not to have the mass-produced feel.
~~~~
Bibi,
Thank you for your lovely comment. The photos really didn’t depict how awkward I posed. And yup, hope to see you around more often!
~~~~
PinkOrchids,
Thank you for stopping by. I also love getting my hair and make up professionally done but it’s kinda weird going out with bare naked face after being so used to make up for so many years.
~~~~
FleurLapin,
Thank you for the sweet comment and it’s nice to know that you like my blog. I was quite nervous too especially when almost all the other gals are used to fashion shoots. Oh haha... tai tai is a local slang here which means a rich, elegant lady who usually do not have to work. Just to check, did you follow me under Maggie Y? I was about to hit the follow you button but I’m not sure if I should follow FleurLapin or Maggie Y.
~~~~
Joey,
Thank you for your lovely words. I really appreciate it. I feel like buying an SLR or just a batter digital camera with a tripod and just practice like how all the fashion blogger always does. Hehe.. Oh yes! I remember reading you used to be from Malaysia and then you went off to UK to pursue your studies. No wonder you understand what Ah Beng is. LoLz... I guess my other international readers have got no clue at all. It’s great to have similar culture blogger friends understanding my language and slang.
~~~~
Winnie*,
Thank you dear. Which 2nd one? The ladder one? That’s my hubby and my favourite too. ClubCouture is gonna use another photo for the Facebook promo and hubby asked me if they could use the ladder one coz he said I look so bitchy chic. LoL
Maldives was GREAT FUN! I’ve yet to edit my pictures to upload though as you know, everything is always late on my blog. Haha... the key word is SEEM. I SEEM to be having a lot of fun but actually all my posts are backdated so once I update, it seems like it’s a lot of activities but nobody except people who know me personally see me “suffering”at work. LoL. Oh, if you read my pink tabs, I would call myself an educator. ;P I teach and write curriculum for my company.
~~~~
Nicole ✗✗,
Thank you dear. I’m flattered.
~~~~
jamie-lee,
Thank you for your comment. I love it when new people visit me with a link to their page coz then I get to discover new blogs. I will drop by your blog soon.
~~~~
Cecilia Warner,
Thank you for your sweet words. Heh... I’m observant to such artistic detail.
Great photoshoot! lovely blog :)

Hello Jolene!
ReplyDeleteYou and your friend Regina looks really great in the photoshoot! Look like actual models. Pretty Pretty! Your tan is very nice. I love your tan legs especially the one on the ladder with the both of you photo. How did both of you get to be on Club Couture together? I cannot click on the website always. Do you know what's the problem?
LoL! I wish I didn't have to work. Alas... a girl can't survive in this modern world w/o education and a stable job. Anyways, I go by Maggie Y, FleurLapin etc. Haha. Same thing! I have one blog I update regularly. You chose the right one!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how I'd handle myself in a proper studio situation as I've never encountered that! I imagine it'd be pretty awkward. It's not obvious that you were struggling though, I think the final shots turned out very well. Your little 'stilettos slipping on paper' comment made me chuckle as I visualized it! :]
ReplyDeleteHey dearest Jo!
ReplyDeleteOh my, you are so tanned!! But that's a nice (yummy) tone! =p I reckon both of you have had fun at the photoshoot! Don't worry dear, I think you look perfectly fine in those pics, where got awkward? I only see 2 gorgeous babes!!
looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteposing is soooo hard! its so hard to not look like a fridgit!
thanks for your kind words on my blog!
rick and I both love taking photos as of late i've been using his camera more so than mine as its so much more user friendly. I generally don't edit any photos and all on my blog generally go on as they have been taken.
and to answer your question on why rick is going to japan, and its definately not intrusive at all.
he is a shoe designer and he's been wanting to set up his own boutique label. He was going there to find suppliers and do research into the fashion shoe trend in japan, as you know they are like always out there!
plus he wanted to go for like years and its been in the works for almost 10 years. its sad as he's quiet upset as its pretty much his lifes dream.
wooo...sorry for the longggggggggg comment!
ps i showed my housemate your photos and he loves the effects that you put on them, ie the framing of all your photos!

Francesca,
ReplyDeleteThank you for dropping by.

Yen,
I haven’t heard from you for a while! How have you been? Well, thanx for your lovely comment. I also do love how my legs look in the pair ladder shot. I’m looking down at my legs now and I do see them looking nothing like in the photos. LoLz.
I’m not sure how we both got to be on ClubCouture but I dare say that the ladies there have been reading our blogs for quite a while. I guess they pick from a few bloggers. As for the website, I’m not sure of the problem but I experienced slow speed at certain timings like now or in the wee hours of the morning. I thought it might be due to the traffic.
~~~~
FleurLapin,
Haha I agree. OIC. I was a little confused by FleurLapin the name you go by when commenting and Maggie Y on the follower profile. Even the photos are different so just thought of clarifying.
~~~~
shabby,
Thank you for the lovely comment. Haha, I guess there have to be some good ones among so many others struggling ones. It’s a shame you’re not on blogger or I would have hit the follow button to keep up with your updates. I do not have bloglovin account and currently, your site is saved in my fave blogs folder.
~~~~
Canny,
Aww.. thank you dear. I love my tan too coz it’s the first time I don’t sport uneven tan lines from my 2 yeards of carboot flea market. The lines just wouldn’t budge! At least now it’d a more yummy tan which has since faded. Nevertheless, the MUA had some problem trying to match a foundation close to my skin tone then so I thought being fair is a lot safer.
~~~~
lisazhang,
No worries. Long comments are always welcome. Thanks for sharing with me as it helps me get to know fellow bloggers more. A shoe designer! Wow! That’s a huge dream and I wish him all the best in attaining his dreams. Dreams will become goals only when one works towards them. You’re one lucky gal, hun. Wouldn’t it be nice if you have many shoes designed for you or named after you?
~~~~
Bibi,
Ooh! Thank you too and we’ll see each other around more often!
Super model Jolene! Hehe ^^ I think you look very beautiful in all the photos, not awkward at all :) The print dress looks great on you, as does the black chiffon dress. A photoshoot sounds like a lot of fun - lucky you!
ReplyDeleteOh btw I could have sworn I added you onto my link list last week, but it wasn't there for some reason. I re-added you since I visit your blog regularly :)
Right Said Fred!
ReplyDeleteRinny,
ReplyDeleteAww… thank you for the lovely comment, dear.
What link list are you referring to? You mean the follower list? Now that you mentioned, yeah, I went to click on my follower and I couldn’t find you at all. I remember seeing you as one of the earlier followers too. Something happened to blogger list?
~~~
Rick,
Right Said Fred? I didn’t know what you mean and upon googling, I only found a band’s name.
@Jo: Oh no I meant my own link list on the sidebar of my blog. I like to link all my regular reads so I remember to check often :) But now that you mention the follower list - my blogger profile has been doing that a lot recently on a few blogs. I followed a few blogs awhile back but my pic or name doesn't show up now for some reason. I refollowed and it seems to have fixed it for the mean time >.<
ReplyDeleteRinny,
ReplyDeleteOh! That’s what you meant. I see. And yes, I can see you as a follower again. The number remained the same. It’s strange. You’re number 61 when it’s supposed to be someone else. I think you became invisible as a hidden follower coz there’s one hidden follower which when I moused over, had no name appearing. I remembered you were one of the 10 overs or 20 overs.
lol wow you have a very good memory Jo xD I actually figured out what happened - my blogger profile unassociated itself with my Google account for some reason so I was a no-name, no-picture gray box on all the sites I am following. I had to spend almost 2 hours last night manually changing the site settings for all my subscriptions so my profile shows up now lol. ahh GFC is such a pain sometimes =.=
ReplyDeleteWow!! You look so beautiful in these pictures :) We love all of the dresses you wore <3

Rinny,
ReplyDeleteI’m glad you figured out what was wrong or you would forever be a nameless and faceless grey figure. LoLz. A shame about the amount of time spent rectifying it though.

The Style Rawr,
Welcome to my blog. I love it whenever I see a new face. Thank you very much for the lovely comment.
PS - You look like you are 19.
ReplyDeleteLoLz... I'm a decade older!
