I love reading...

but never would I attempt to finish a book in one sitting. The last time I did that was in primary school and it was an Enid Blyton book.

That night, I finished reading a book in one sitting.

It was by Haruki Murakami.

  1. I feel the exact same way. I still can't finish a book in one seating not because I don't want to but because I chose to start reading too late at night.

Thanks for the sweet comment on my blog [awhile back]. Sorry for the late response.

{*LOL} @ "So, if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of shit" from your previous post.

  2. Hi Jolene,

I just realised we've met in Cozycot's What Did You Wear Today thread, haven't we? :) Hello! What book was it by Haruki Murakami that you couldn't put down?

  5. I agree with you Jo, about how the ppl you are friends with can affect the way you act and think. i think that's only true to a certain point tho and that's where a strong sense of self comes into play. it's definitely a work in progress for me. but i find it a bit interesting to discover and strengthen my inner core bit by bit.

I was born in Calgary & Im Chinese/Malaysian. You are Singaporean? Do you speak Singlish?? hehe i love listening to that. and i LOVE Singapore. I went there a few years ago and fell in love with the city and how beautiful it is...and the food...and the nightlife...and everything! hehe

haha cute pic on this entry. its cute. i dont think i can finish reading anything in one sitting either. i fall asleep when i read past 2 hrs.

  6. Serena,

No prob! Surprised to see you popping by actually.

I guess most of us would feel it a waste of time to just sit and read. That's why it's not that we can't but more likely we don't want to.

I think that's a brlliant quote. I wished I could come up with such brilliance too. Heh.

  7. Xiaoqi,

Yes, it's such a coincidence.I actually came across your blog way before bumping into you on CC. I forgot how got to it though. Must be blog hopping. Imagine my surprise when I clicked on your link to see how you created a new look for the top with pearls and realised I've read you before.

    The book is Sputnik Sweetheart.

Hope to see you around more often. =)

  9. iceman,

I was more haunted by the part when Miu saw a black figure couching in the corner of her room. The ferris wheel part is just intriguing and that's why as much as I love the beauty of the language (kudos to the great translator), I hated the unexplained mystery.

Lend me another book please!!! =D

  10. misscindee,

Of coz I speak Singlish... even though I'm in the educaton line. Heh... But somehow peppering our speech with la, leh, lor, mixing Mandarin and dialects etc makes one feel more at home.

Oh! If you ever decide to pop by our sunny shores, we could meet up. Haha... how cool is that? I could speak Singlish and teach you how to say "moo moo" and "meh meh" till you whack my head. It's really hot in here these month though. The weather's gone wonky.

  11. LOL* jo thx for your response. I would love to meet up with you when i come back and visit singapore. And i think it would be so fun to learn Singlish. I kinda know what you mean cos I speak Hokkien as a dilect and i mix it with a bit of english and mandarin too. Now what kind of hybrid would that be? Hokkish? LOL*

    And to your response:

If you think that learning how to sew will help expand your creativity then why dont you sign up for a basic sewing class. it does save a lot of money =) esp if you learn how to hem and alter stuff.

Do i really look tanned? I thought I had faded quite a bit. I think my tan is from Sept when I went to LA. and no I dont go tanning. It's bad for you. I went a couples times a few years ago and it was too strong for me bcos my skin started getting very sensitive and itchy. I dont know if you've read my past article on how i get my tan. If not here's the link:

  12. thanks for stopping by. :) i love to read as well! going to scour your blog now for new books to read. :)

reading books in one sitting is great but its also bad because when you are finished, you wish there was more and regret getting through it so fast!

  13. misscindee,

You speak Hokkien as a dialect? I'm a hokkien and yes we do mix hokkien in our English too.

I'm currently doing lots of stuff all at once and yes I did think of taking up a course on sewing too. However I assume I need a machine at home.. the sewing machine in both my family's house and my in laws are the old fashioned type. Those given to my mum and mum in law as a wedding gift kind... now just imagine that and they're pretty much not in working order just that the sentimental value is too much to be thrown. I think I'm just being a procrastinator once more.

Ooh thanx for the tanning tips! You put in lots of effort. No wonder your tan looks delicious. I used to tan a lot but not anymore. Now I'm neither glowing fair nor yummy tanned. Just yellow-jello. =D

  14. Amy,

I kinda agree with you. I felt so lost after I finished the book, wishing there was more. But then again, it could be due to the unexplained mystery of the book.
