No alarm ringing… Sleeping till the late morning… No brushing teeth in bed… Lazing on the sofa with bolster… Watching Strawberry Shortcake and Mickey Mouse cartoons on Disney Channel… Shopping solo… Getting lost in my own world of books at Kinokuniya… Stocking up on all my beauty stuff at Watson’s… Hopping from booths to booths and savouring bits of mooncakes…
No going back to the office. Not a single work done at home.
I miss such relaxed off days.

I was glad to have found the appropriate books for the Phonics course. Such a lot of words, phonemes and blends to fit into a whole year’s course! I hope I would be able to churn out the whole course outlines for the 3 levels by next Thursday. It was supposed to be by tomorrow but my nice superior/ colleague helped me to push it back as she thinks it’s impossible to do so with my current workload.
Browsing through all the educational books for kids really makes me wanna have a kid to teach. Books are really amazing. When I have kids, I’m so gonna buy lots and lots of the right books for them to read. It’s good to cultivate reading habits from young and being able to read at a young age is so important!!!
Whenever I step into Kino, I would always visit the design section. I love flipping through all the fashion designs and modern fashion illustrations books. Then, I would have the urge to pick up my pencil to start doodling. I think my drawing really sucks now. I can’t draw a simple girl for nutz.
I remember taking a test on which occupation is best suited for my character. Fashion design was ranked #1. Next was interior design and finally jewellery design. The tester even commented that it was the first time she ever saw someone with the top 3 occupations all related to designing. However, if you ever saw my drawings, you would just laugh and reassure me that I’ve made the right choice to be in the education line.
Oh I’ve finally opened all my Teachers’ Day presents. I know I’m horrible. Children’s Day coming, now then open Teachers’ day present but for the past weeks, I really had no time to even sleep much less unwrap presents. Besides, I don’t like Teachers’ Day gifts. Don’t get me wrong. I love receiving gifts. I just don’t wanna open them as I know the presents would look a lot prettier neatly wrapped in colourful wrappers rather than as gaudy decorative items that would only be left lying obsolete in my room.
I would rather these students write me notes and cards as these are a lot more heartwarming and easier to keep. They could also give me the best gift by behaving well, doing well, handing up their homework and showing good attitudes.

It's amazing how my students can call me "Ms Loh" and write "Mrs Loh".

Right Brain vs Left Brain Tests
I got 2 of these RB LB tests from my email…
READ BELOW BEFORE SCROLLING TO THE PICTURE
Test 1: Find the man between the coffee beans.
Doctors have concluded that:
If you find the man in 3 seconds, your right
half of your brain is better developed than most people.
If you find the man between 3 seconds and one minute, then your right half of the brain is
developed normally.
If you find the man between one minute and 3 minutes, then the right half of your brain is functioning slowly and you need to take more protein. If you have not found the man after 3 minutes your right half of your brain is a mess, and the only advice is to look more for these types
of exercises to make that part of the brain stronger.
The man really is there.
In fact, once you find him, you cannot miss him thereafter.
Have fun...
:
:
:
How long did you take?
I took about 5 seconds… Aww… Me no right-brainer.
Ok the next one made me smug for a couple of weeks.
Test 2: Do you see the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise?
This was stated in the email:
"If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa.
Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it."
What did you see?
I could immediately see the dancer turning clockwise. Try as I might, I could not get my eyes to see it the other way round. “Wow! I’m such a strong right-brainer,” I thought to myself. I had wanted to send to all the "right brainer" ex colleagues and brag about how right brain I was.
It was only today that I found out the correct analysis and was so disappointed.
So now after reading the correct analysis, what did you see? Were you able to control what you see?

This was in the mail too.
Heart-Kun Puppy
A chihuahua puppy has become Japan's latest heart-throb after he was born with a heart-shaped mark on his coat.
PIC
The dog, named "Heart-kun", was born on May 18 at a pet store in northern Odate. Shop owner Emiko Sakurada, who bred over 1,000 puppies, believes his unusual markings have brought her luck.
"Since Heart-kun was born, not only I, but also many people who see him are getting luckier," Sakurada said.
The dog became a celebrity after a local television station aired pictures of him. Since then, Sakurada has been flooded with calls from people wanting to buy him, which she has turned down.
"It may sound strange but since I saw him, my luck has been picking up. I won the lottery and won a concert ticket. That must have been thanks to the power of Heart-kun," said Sakurada's sister, Maki Matsuyama.
Doesn’t Heart-kun have such puppy dog eyes???

sherin: you keep buying buying hor. naughty girl. but Abercrombie is nice lah! and not to mention LV, it makes mi drool~~~
Heya sorry for the slow reply. Haha ya lor… Well since I come home so late at night everyday, the only source of entertainment would be click click click, buy buy buy. Abercrombie is really nice! And I think your exams are coming right? All the best! You can do it! Oh yes, wanted to ask you for ur msn so can chat online but I’ll wait till I upgrade my msn ya?
11 Sep 07, 22:16
ling: Abercrombie is like one of the greatest clothes to add in your wardrobe. Dun these clothes look charming? Oh ditch the speedy monogram. Everyone in town has dat!
I do agree with you about Abercrombie too. I used to think the T-shirts would outgrow the “high school” phase but even A-listers are donning them. I think I may well ditch the speedy monogram. It’s really everywhere… URGH… Time will tell me what to do.
12 Sep 07, 22:56
maine: $700 for a top? That's really expensive lei. Ok now I roughly know what to expect. Anyways nice buys. Pink jacket is pretty. So it speedy monogram. Never liked squares.
Yup indeed… but my dress isn’t as ex as $700 so the tops aren’t good gauge. The pink jacket looked so pretty in the photo but their S size isn’t fitting on me so I had to forgo that and took the other 3. I think the damier (square) is nice too, depending on what bags and wallets. It looks very MAN… I like. <3
19 Sep 07, 08:45
Canny: Jiayou sweetie!! I kind of understand ur situation. Always rem to rest & relax. Find some1 to chat with to relax & online / offline shopping is great too! I like Neverfull also.. but wanna save up.. So heart pain pain forgo it.. I like Abercrombie too. They have very nice polos for Men. Quality for cami etc for ladies is a bit sheer though. I like their jackets!! very nice & EX!!!~ The jacket in blue looks pretty!! Guys will nv understand why gals like to have so many bags, acc. clothes! For girls, Its just nv get enough!!!~ Hahaha...
I can’t find someone to chat and relax online coz msn forced me to upgrade and I haven’t upgraded as I’ve yet to back up my laptop. Afraid of hiccups… My sis’s pc kept shutting down after she upgraded her msn. After I’ve upgraded I’ll ask you for your msn. Yup A&F has really nice men polo. I really can’t decide which to choose. Asking my bf is useless coz he’ll ask me not to buy. For ladies, I love their classic and humour tees and jackets best. All others are too sheer and not worth the price. Surprised that you’ll say the blue jacket is nice coz that shade not as nice on the photo as compared to the pink one but in the end, the fit was great and I ditched the pink one. While guys will never understand why we are like that, we will never understand why they never understand. =P

More updates coming up!!! Stay tuned.
BTW my frenz are complaining that my blog has at least 3 pop-ups and it's super irritating. One of them even had pop-up blocker installed. To anyone who care to answer me, do you experience the same thing??? Coz I don't experience the pop ups at all and was unaware of it. I need to know if many of you are experiencing it and slowly find out what's wrong with my blog.

I think I'm doing a lot more than I'm supposed to. I dislike it when people think I'm capable when I'm not even as competent. I'm afraid of not living up to expectations should I not be able to handle all these.
I’ve to come up with a rough plan, a scheme of work for a whole new course by next week. It was stated 3 weeks ago but I simply had no time for it coz I still have to handle my English and Kindergarten curriculum. Yes the extra help was useful. But WE need more help. Help is on the way, help is on the way… Till now also haven’t come.
I’m actually feeling very tired…
Tired of positive thinking all the time. It’s mentally exhausting.
I’m always feeling sleepy and lethargic yet when it’s time to sleep, I’m unable to sleep. Even if I feel drained, I would lie down and not be able to sleep.
I used to work like it’s not work and was very happy. I still do that now but only because I cannot even differentiate what’s work and what’s not; when’s work and when’s not. Work at work. Work at home. No demarcation. When I’m relaxing and surfing online, I’m also doing work at the same time. When I’m watching tv, I’m also doing work at the same time. I can’t stand sitting down to eat in the kitchen coz I find it an absolute waste of time. The only time I really sit down to enjoy a meal is my Saturday night’s out with kh. That’s the only time I feel totally relaxed.
I used to enjoy working. Then, to be able to tolerate. In many aspects it’s a lot more tolerable than my prev co. However, when my passion for teaching is slowly dissipating, maybe I should reconsider other options. There was a time when I actually felt that teaching was not my cup of tea. I went home to cry… First time I cried because of students. They were so unfeeling when I was so sick. I kept spoiling my voice with the constant teaching. I can’t even talk w/o clearing my throat now. I haven’t tried singing yet. I suppose I’ve totally ruined my voice.
I will hold on… persevere… I’ve still got a lot of responsibilities. It’s no good to leave shit for people to clear. I’m ranting… Maybe I will wake up to a bright and cheery day and I’ll look back on this post and scoff at myself.
Look at the time now. I’ve to wake up at 7+ later as I’ll be hitching a ride from my dad. It’s supposed to be my afternoon-in later but I’ve still got so much to clear.
I’ll reply to tags and comments another day ya? Apologies!! =)
In the meantime, enjoy this inspirational story… received it over email from flor. Thanx babe!
The Mayonnaise Jar & 2 Cups of Coffee
When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar... and it's story...
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an emphatic "yes." The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed. Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.
The golf balls are the important things. Your family, your children, your faith, your health, your friends, and your favourite passions. Things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter. Your job, your house, and your car.
The sand is everything else. The small stuff. "If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first, the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."
~end~
How apt… I should learn to think more for myself. Focus on my golf balls.
I’m glad to be meeting up for more than just coffee with 2 different groups of lovely people soon. There's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a couple of friends.

Why do you keep buying jackets and bags???
Kh loves to ask me that.
Just take a look at what I’ve bought again... He's so gonna shake his head for the 4027538947th time.
Jackets from where else but my favourite Abercrombie!
Top L-R: Shaw Pond Hoodie Men in Navy, Lily Waffle Ladies in Pink
Bottom L-R: Lily Heritage Ladies in Blue, Colette Hoodie Ladies in Brown
But hey dear, I bought a jacket for YOOOOUUU!!! So you have one more jacket to add to your collection of only one adidas jacket.
I had wanted to buy the Lily Heritage in Green but the last S size was being snapped up. But I do love the Lily Waffles in Pink and oh the name Colette just sound so chic.
Can't wait to collect them!
~*~
My itchy fingers started clicking again and look what I've found!
Polo tees for kh!
The darker and classic range...
Top L-R: Ridge Trail Brown Polo, Saddleback Mountain Navy Polo
Bottom L-R: DeBar Trail Navy Polo, DeBar Trail Red Polo
The bright and cheery range...
Top L-R: Lake George Dark Pink Polo, DeBar Trail Double Striped Orange Polo
Bottom L-R: Saddleback Mountain Green Polo, Rollins Pond Green Polo
What I like about A&F striped polo tee is that they look similar yet they are all really quite different and unique in style. Love how they name their clothes too. Now... which one(s) should I get?
~*~
Besides the jackets, I'm also waiting for my...
LV Neverfull pm!
Yep, the smallest one.
I know, I know. I used to dislike the Neverfull range. I think they look just like Gucci Totes with feelers coming out. On top of that, the whole world is carrying them and I hate to look like the whole world.
However, the whole world which I saw was carrying the mm and gm. I didn't see anyone carrying the pm. Imagine my total change of heart when I saw the pm real life. Stupid apr who polluted my mind with Neverfull was saying the pm looked so good on me that it looked like it was mine.
Hence, I decided to get it since it's outta stock everywhere. The ever-so-common Speedy 25 can wait. Neverfull first!
I like the interior and the mini pochette which will come along with it.
I really cannot wait.
As if knowing that I had a change of heart, LV had to splash this ad on the newspapers recently. The Speedy sitting innocuously in the background sure is enticing.
Common but chio classic Monogram?
or
Practical and formal Damier?
It's really hard to decide.

Hmm… It’s true that not everyone can take a liking to her voice. I personally find her voice a little too whiny and “teh” like erm “tair” but she has a powerful voice and is able to reach high notes. I think they look cute as a couple though. Sweet young things.

After visiting that famous Chinese Physician...
I realised that my Chinese really CMI. It was so bad that she had to speak to me in accented English at times. Haha... Luckily got my da jie there to help me translate some chinese medical terms too.
Ok of course that wasn't the only thing I realised.
I was very amazed by the physician's skills. Just by ba3 mai4 (reading pulse), she could tell what I was suffering from! So what you see on "Da Chang Jing" (Jewel in the Palace) is true.
It turned out that a lot of my sickness and symptoms all boil down to my sinus problem. My recent URI was exacerbated due to my sinus. My frequent headache, nauseous and vomiting too! So if I try to clear my sinus problem, all other problem would slowly be eradicated too. She commented that I was so young yet so lifeless, unlike my older sister who kept talking and arguing. I told her I sick mah and she said I full of excuses. Haha... she's damn funny lor.
I was really good and tried to refrain myself from drinking cold drinks. I've also taken to drinking warm water. I just finished my course of antibiotics and started on the chinese medicine today. I've got different medicine for morning, afternoon and night and so far, the morning and afternoon one have been quite pleasant to the tastebuds. =D Edited to add: The night one is horrid!
I also went for gua1 sha1. It was the first time I ever heard of gua sha. My skin looked as if I was being abused but the feeling was real shiok. I swear I was gonna have headache that Thursday but the gua sha lightened my muscles so much that I felt very energetic after that. I was also not coughing as much after the treatment.
I went to work after that and some of my colleagues commented that I looked visibly healthier and more lively as I still looked a little sick the night before during D&D.
The wonders of traditional healing!

We had a dinner celebration for mum at...
It was our 1st time there even though it's so near our place. My da jie went before and commented that the food was not bad. I've heard from many people who had been there that the food is very expensive but delicious.
Here's what we ordered...
The food was so-so only. Macpherson kopitiam the seafood even better!
How come mum's birthday only got picture of food, no human? That's coz all of them didn't really wanna take photo. Hmm...
Those who know me would know how I alwiz cannot stand some characteristic traits of my mum. However, those past few days I was sick, she really took good care of me. She didn't scold me like how she always do. She didn't retaliate when I was being very fussy and whiny in my sickness. She gave in to me and my spoilt demands coz I assumed I was the queen when I was sick.
I haven't gotten her a present. I cannot stand it when she always demands for presents that are not really practical. In the first place, presents should be given from the heart, not given coz we are reminded and pressured to do so every single day.
However, this time I may just get her what she has been openly hinting for. My turn not to scold, not to retaliate and to give in coz now she's the queen.

I caught Ratatouille on Saturday
It was a choice between Ratatouille and Hairspray both of which I wanna watch. I was feeling for some music and rhythmn that night and wanted Hairspray. Kh was in need for some actions (The Bourne Ultimatum) or cartoon (Ratatouille) so Ratatouille it was.
A movie that spurs me to spend time writing about it on my blog is certainly a good movie.
Ratatouille is simply dazzling. It is by far the best animation movie I’ve watched in 2007. If the highly raved about Finding Nemo and The Incredibles deserve a 5-star rating from so many reviewers, then perhaps Ratatouille truly deserves a 6-star.
It isn’t like the usual appeal to both adults and kids kinda animation where kids would laugh at the visual gags and adults at the witty remarks. It isn’t like the usual spoof kinda humour that so tickled me in Shrek and Shrek 2. It didn’t have the think out of the box creativity like Monsters, Inc that so captured my heart. Nevertheless, this show somehow charmed me with its simple comic brilliance.
Remy the rat is simply endearing with its innocent big eyes, adorable pink nose and determined character. The way it stands on its hind legs and flops its ears down is just so cute. I almost forgot that is a rat, not a mouse. There were a few times in the movie when I just went “so cuuuute” -- when it nodded its head, when it stood on its hind legs, when it cooked for his useless human counterpart, Linguini.
I love the ground level shots of Remy scurrying through the streets, holes, drains and Gustave’s kitchen. It was fun being miniature and seeing the world so big. I love the night scenes of Paris and the classy background music throughout the whole movie. I felt as if I was transported to Paris. The cooking sequence was a joy to watch too. When the rats scampered in one freaking large colony, it was really disgusting. However, it was fun to see them work in alpha, beta, charlie and delta teams; cutting and chopping ingredients, tossing them into the pots and churning out sauces.
In the end, the sneaky stealing rats became high class rodents which dined in a miniature restaurant above the featured restaurant in the movie.
I initially hated the snobbish food critic Anton Ego who looked like a character jumped up to life from one Tim Burton’s gothic film. In the end, he turned out to be such a likeable character under the veil of coldness. I liked the scene when he sampled Remy’s ratatouille dish.
“[It] is the single best moment in the film and it rivals the moment when the Grinch’s heart grows three sizes too big in the animated How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”
(quoted from http://www.kpbs.org/blogs/movies/2007/06/29/ratatouille/)
I initially thought that the title “Ratatouille” was the name of the culinary-skilled rat frenchified. It is actually the name for a commoner’s peasant stew. It isn't a fancy dish, but it's hearty and oozing with the taste of simple homeliness. Created from modest ingredients, a well prepared Ratatouille requires cooking the vegetables in separate stages, and then combining them for the last simmer. Dashes of spices leave satisfying and inspiring warmth when it's done, exactly like the movie.
The only thing I disagree in the movie would be the philosophy of "Anyone Can Cook”. Sure thing anyone can cook. Nice or not is another matter.
Next movie I wanna watch — Hairspray! Coz I love musical, I love John Travolta as a jolly fat woman and I love Zac Efron.
Zac Efron from High School Musical is the next cute young boy I like after Robert Pattinson (the one who acted as Cedric in HP Goblet of Fire). I’m such a cradle snatcher.
Anyway, I'm not those who are so crazy over Zac, they would kill to marry him. Isn't Zac and his reel-life and real-life girlfriend Vanessa of High School Musical the cutest couple ever?

Ok I'm wide awake. If I go to bed now I'll just toss and turn like how I've been doing the 3 days. How to make myself sleep? I'm lazy to do work.

D&D 29th August 2007 at Raffles Town Club
It was quite a grand dinner which involved outside school teachers, top scorers, parents, notable members of the public etc. Last year was A LOT more fun. I would very much prefer a smaller scale affair when everyone would feel at ease with one other. I dare say many of my colleagues did not behave like themselves too as we each had an image to uphold in front of “outsiders”.
I was also quite bored during dinner as I was seated with the outside pri school teachers and the pri curriculum colleagues whom I'm not very acquainted with and. All my same room kakis were at another table as they are from sec curriculum. Hmmph… If not for the magic show segments by our very own colleague, I would have been bored to tears and stifling from cough. I was still not feeling too good that day and was trying to remain as energetic as much as possible.
Let the photos do the talking for now.
=)
The animals went in two by two, hurrah hurrah!
with viv my next table, cab sharing, same sch and everything kaki
So glad that she decided to come to her senses and do her hair. Haha... It took quite some time to persuade her to doll up once in a blue moon.
with joy my vegetarian suaning kaki
with apr my bimbotic same wavelength kaki
2nd boss' daughter kept posing on the stairs when me and apr were taking loads of ugly shots. Just when we stoop to her level to take a shot with her, she walked away!
with cha
I always think that she is Ms NICE coz she is just soooo nice.
with eli
She was a great help to me since she came in about 3 months ago. You see me blogging more? That's coz of her. Haha... she helped me ease my workload by quite a fair bit. No more marking till 6am.

ju and xp were my "food picker" that evening. I didn't wanna spread my very contagious URI germs and they were so nice and helpful to use their utensils to pick food for me.

The menu... [Click to enlarge]
I like the cold dish best. The rest were pretty much like wedding dinner dishes. I still can't understand why they have to put shark's fins in the si chuan suan la tang. Poor sharks!
One of the magic segments involved apr going up on stage, putting her ring into a box on the table and then having the table float right in front of her! apr was trying so hard to find strings but no strings. The way the table floated was quite magical. Reminded me of those fantasy Disney cartoons.
The floating table...
The ugly amateurish writing on the photos is a result of trying to blot out the co's name without the use of photoshop.
Group Shots...

Our ex IT guy. In the past, whenever we had any prob with the comp, we'll just holler for him. Hope he's doing well at his new co.
a bevy of ladies

Sean is such a Mr Nice Guy. He can be really professional and serious and yet do very siao siao funny things at times.
And of coz with our very own magician, fran!
I must say I was really impressed by his performance. It's one thing when you watch magic on tv. It's another when you catch magic live and the magician is someone you know.
The theme was "Masquerade" so of coz we must have photos of us behind the masks la.
The kakis!
Don't we look like super heroes instead of looking mysterious and coy?
Fooling around with viv's scarf...
Haha joy looked weird coz she had changed out
Oh I won 13th prize for lucky draw!
$100 Best Denki vouchers! Better than last year's $20 Taka vouchers. You will always win something when you least expect it. =)
"Glamour" shots developed straight on the spot.
I think I look anything but glamorous here...
Horrible bo skills photographer.
But I love this photo of the 4 of us!
This year was really a little sian. Nobody went clubbing after that. If I were not so sick, I sure go cheong wan. And then dear evan had to sms me saying she misses cheonging with me, the music is good etc etc and make me so gian. Wahaha...
For those who have been asking... Here are photos of my dress before I changed out.
It's really quite tough to capture the details. Photos don't do justice to the dress. Really love the design a lot! The short "pong pong" tiered skirt, the flattering cut, the tulled straps that criss cross at the back, the large ribbon with sparkling rhinestones... all of these make it such a unique little black dress. I forsee myself donning this for xmas party, new year's party, yada yada...
That's all for D&D. I've still got other stuff to blog about but kh is coming to pick me up for supper in about 5 minutes time. Watch out for more updates later when I return!
Love,
me lovin my LBD
