Site of the week -- Dear Photograph
I'm easily inspired by every little thing which stirs feelings in me so I decided I would share with my friends and readers all the good reads and good sights/sites I come across on the world wide web. Labelling the post "Site of the week" compels me to be more consistent in my blogging too. I will be adding a new label SOTW on my sidebar to feature such posts.
Today I would share with you a site that juxtaposes then and now:
http://dearphotograph.com
This site invokes a bittersweet feeling in me with the accompanying words that go with the pictures.
Enjoy!

I love reading sincere comments and hearing your voice. While blatant self promotion of blogs and follow for follow requests are not advisable, I would love if you leave a mark here with a trackback link so that I could connect with you. I reply to comments here or on your blog so don't forget to check back on replies! =)

neat. there's a toronto site that keeps doing this with streets and buildings (showing what used to be where cars are parked in front of now).
ReplyDeletetimes have changed kiddo.
Ah, it was on private >< I changed it, you should be able to see the vid now :)
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing! i been browsing that site for an hour now lol I love the idea!
ReplyDeleteTurtle,
ReplyDeleteI agree that times have changed. I don't think I can submit a Singapore photo since most of our landscape is ever-changing! I wouldn't even be able to find the same background at the same spot to put my photo against!

Bibi,
Shall go check it out now!

simplyvonne,
I love the concept too! It's very addictive right? Sometimes I stumble onto such sites and started spending too much time scrolling and clicking next next next that I decided I should not waste anymore time and start to save them in my Favourites folder. Now I've got too many links in this folder.
Ah, what a sweet little site. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletehey babe,
ReplyDeleteit is great that you will SHARING the wonder sites that you find...
i can't wait and i couldn't help but read the comment you left on Squeeze the PUG... i so AGREE with you !!!
and i love your HUMBLE nature and your lovely comment!!!
That's a great site Jolene, thank you for sharing. It makes me wish I had more photos from my youth and of family members and friends.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was little, I wanted to invent a machine that you could look into and see what your yard (or anyplace really) looked like 10 years ago, a 100, a 1,000, etc. But the past is gone. ALthough it's not too late to start taking pictures and recording what things look like now. Thanks for the inspiration. =)
Squeeze the Pug,
ReplyDeleteI hope you didn't get addicted and spend too much time on it like I did for a while.

Label me Addict,
Look out for more STOW to come!
Oh yes the follower setting on your blog couldn't be displayed. I followed using the top blogger button instead. I'm not too sure if you could see me as a follower but I do receive your updates on my dashboard.

Rick,
Me too. It would be cool to have our old photos. But sadly most of the old pictures I could find, I couldn't recognize the background. Singapore and our everchanging landscape gives me a sense of nostalgia. I think I could place a picture of a bay against the casino hotel (Marina Bay Sands) since the bay has to make way for modern city developments. My house is standing on a land which used to be a village/farm.
