Spring Summer Trends Part II

Continuing from Spring Summer Trends Part I, the next fashion trend touches on denim. As seen from the various ViVi magazine spread in my previous post, denim attire in all sorts, whether it comes in the form of jeans, capri, dress, skirt, shorts or jumpers is a spring summer trend.

[Aside: I never knew that. I’m basically a denim shorts person in a land that experiences summer all year round.

Besides my boring old denim shorts, I decided to inch out of my comfort zone in experimenting with the denim trend. I wore my katie jumper in dark out for facial appointment, run some errands and meet my sister for dinner last Sunday. I paired it with my cute and classy (do you get the hidden joke?) Abercrombie Tee. I have the intention to pair the jumper with tube or bandeau one fine day when my abs are visible enough.

The outfit invited lots of comments from everyone I interacted with that day. On any normal days, people don’t usually comment so much about my dressing coz I’m not really too adventurous in dressing up when it comes to normal outings.

One thing about jumpers would be that the strap constantly falls from my slight sloping shoulders. For this katie jumper, there would be times when I purposely left it hanging as I thought the red tartan design adds a dash of colour to the casual white and blue. Pop of colour is also synonymous to spring trends. The hanging strap kinda make me look sloppy and laid-back but I prefer to think I’m laid-back. The hubby however prefers to think that it’s kinky.
-_-

So why don’t you go creative with the denim trend in a totally-different-from-your-usual-manner this spring and share your look with me by leaving your link? I love to gain some inspirations from you too.

After having takeway McDonalds dinner with my sis at home, we decided to check out the reservoir nearby and also to test my month-old canon S95 for outdoor and low-light shots.

The authorities spruced up the land around the reservoir a few months back and we were surprised at the number of people and dogs of all shapes and sizes there. The place used to be frequented only by anglers and people who want to catch sight of crocodiles, which I highly suspect were giant monitor lizards roaming in the shallow waters of Singapore. Fast forward to now, it has become a family hang out place.

I tried out the continuous shots mode and combined them in an anigif. It’s no good when my sis has such shakey hands but I must say her photography skills improved that day. *LoL*

Photobucket

The beautiful sunset hues of pink and purple in the sky were captured almost true to colour.

Photobucket

My sis thinks I should take a shot with flowers to show that it’s spring so I found a pathetic morning glory on the ground for this shot.

Photobucket

Soon the sun disppeared below the horizon. My old bimbotic pink fujifilm that died on me certainly would not be able to capture in such low lights as compared to my canon S95.

Here are some continuous mode test shots of the beautiful fountain put together by anigif. I think I’ve to figure out which scene mode to use coz these look a little blurry especially after compressing them to mak the gif.

Photobucket

Do kids in other countries play with water fountain in this way or is is a Singapore culture?

I’m impressed by this low light, noiseless shot. My pink bimbotic fujifilm would have produced lots of noise or else then I’ve to up the exposure.

Spring summer outfits worn in these two posts are from ClubCouture unless otherwise stated.

ClubCouture is currently having a promotion of free shipping worldwide. Double YAY for my international blogger friends. If any of you are of the same built as me and interested in the same items, you can always look at how the clothes fit on me as a gauge.

Don’t forget that exclusively for my friends and readers, enter the code JOLENE2011 all in capz to enjoy 15% discount when you check out your items.

Remember the photoshoot you saw a few posts back? Those with FB a/c, you can view more photos of the my dear friend regina, the other ambassadors and yours truly of course at ClubCouture's 2011 Fashion Ambassadors album.

I'm thrilled to know that they've stocked up on the monochrome silk dress I wore during the shoot which was out of stock back then. Cyrstal Luvz, you asked me before on this dress right? You can click the link. Now, I'm wondering if I should get it too. It's something that is not my style but even kh agrees that it's nice.

Photobucket

Due to this ClubCouture album being posted to my FB wall as well as my blog link under each of my photo, I’m quite sure many of my co-workers have stumbled onto my blog since they, including my bosses, are on my FB friend list.

Well, I know some people may think that I’m so foolish to have so many co-workers on my friend list not blocked from my wall. However
as mentioned before and for those of you who have been following me for at least a year, you would have known that I deliberated for a long time to decide whether to close down my blog, move away or to continue blogging ever since it has become uncovered by so many strangers and 3rd degree friends alike throughout the years.

I’ve since decided on the 3rd choice as I realised that blogging has become a huge part of me and I’ve made many cherished friends from forums and all over the world. Moreover, I’ve got nothing to hide. Whatever that I dare display and write on FB and my blog are things which I don’t mind people knowing, except for maybe my students. When my students start stumbling on my blog, I think I would have to reconsider again. Recently my 14-year-old students started stalking me on FB even though my settings were private. I think FB had some problem and apparently, they could see my general info and friend list and started clicking on all my friends one by one. It doesn’t help that my hubby’s profile is super public and the damage had been done even though I unchecked and checked all the settings over again to double confirm.

If you happen to know me and have read up till this point, instead of reading me silently, why don’t you break the silence and drop me a note of hi? It might be a lot easier when we talk face to face knowing that you know rather than to pretend you are not reading me.

  1. Lovely pictures dear, I really liked the ones where you're standing near the water. I have a thing for sunsets, I can watch the sunset all day --- if only that were possible...
    Waaaa, fountains with lights! I'm sure it's not a Singaporean thing to run through fountains, I've seen kids do it here as well (I even did it myself... not so very long ago. I'm such a kid), but we just don't have that many "run-through" fountains. Too bad, it seems like a lot of fun on a hot day.

  2. I love..love..love your denim jumper. It is super cute, fun, and flirty. You look adorable. I will have to check out their website.

    Thanks so much Jo for sharing about your bag. You didnot overshare at all, trust me. I enjoy reading every bit of comment. Yes please do a post about your new found bag, I am getting most lol. You did get your money worth on your Gucci bag, didn't you ;) ?

  3. The jumper looks great on you! I normally stay away from jumpers, rompers, etc, because I would probably look like a little girl wearing it. My shorter height doesn't help much either :P

    The pictures came out really nice! The animated gif is adorable ^^ And I'm really surprised the night shot came out looking so clear. Usually pictures taken in low lighting like that are super grainy :)

  5. Jo!! Hello!!! ^__^ Ah I couldn't find your e-mail anywhere on your blog lol so I guess it's not provided XD I feel weird leaving a comment without reading the post ><... But anyway! I am so sorry to tell you that I couldn't find Mezaik anywhere!!! =( I went to like 6 different stores and even brought a picture and none of them carry it... they told me it might be a popularity thing; once it has passed, the stores stopped carrying it =( The only similar eyelid fiber I was able to find was by Koji =T I tried finding Mezaik from Taiwanese online stores and with postage it's about $46 SGD (to be sent to me from the seller). So I guess it's not much cheaper if you try to buy it from me =( Ah I'm so sorry Jo!!! ='(

  6. RIght after I met my wife, but before we started dating (or even really talking), I spotted her in the hallway at school wearing denim overalls. She looked so cute. But when I shared that story with her after we started dating, she was embarrassed--she thought she looked terrible that day.

    Anyway, denim is a nice look. But I think you should get some sort of clip and attach it to the straps in the back--to hold them together and keep them from slipping off your shoulder. The jumping with only one strap up made me nervous! =)

  7. I think the picture of you standing in front of the water (both straps up) is my 2nd favorite. And the fountain is amzaing.

  8. You're so adorable<3 Really pretty!
    I like your photos ... so beautiful:)

  9. Hi Jo! Long time no talk how are you dearie? You tshirt is funny hahaha you are so lucky you have the cutesy petite figure but your also curvy! Most girls are either stick skinny no curves or have to much curves hahaha you seriously have the best figure!

    To answer your question I've actually found the patent leather channel to be my most durable chanel doesn't scratch.. I can take it in the rain.. Won't get dirty. The only thing that drives me crazy tho is the finger prints. It shows all of my finger prints and its so annoying I find whenever I use it I'm erasing finger prints in it half the day hahah

    the view is spectacular and you look so carefree and fresh in the jumper. :3 i wish i could wear jumpers but i'm so tall it'll look really weird if i do haha! ^_^

  12. i know i know! :):) and, i love your pictures! now im tempted to get a new camera...

  13. You look so cute in the jumpers! Haiya, you look good in everything. And I didn’t get the joke on the t shirt at first until I saw the colours. Cute ass! Haha... amazing t shirt. It’s not very obvious though maybe that’s good.

    I notice that your blog keep getting better and better.You even have anigif now! Your photos are so much bigger now too. I like to look at big photos indiviually as when you group them together everything become so small. Will you start putting one single photo from now on or is it only becos this is to test your camera? I also like all the special effects to your photos like the railway with the olden feel and the halloween with the horror feel. Are you taking up any courses on photography or editing photo?

    I’m so sorry that I always disappear and come and leave so many comments on everything all at once. I got read your blog every now and then but I realise that you have got so many friends who leave their blog names and after a few years, I’m still just simple “Yen” with no blog as I’m still so scared to show who I am.

    And lastly, I always improve my english reading your blog. You write very well but not like those blog which I cannot understand. I feel that I talk and write better English now.

  14. I love this look....you are gorgeous :)

  15. Wow! I’m overwhelmed by the flow of comments. Thank you all for your comments and compliments. I really enjoyed reading all of them!

    ~~~
    Bibi,
    You have just congealed a mental image on me of you running through the fountain with your gorgeous curls (that you so hate). Now my impression of Bibi would be that!
    ~~~

    Nelah,

    Oh do check out their websites. Their designs don’t come in all at once shot and you might spot a few new items after every few days. They do have their peak seasons where a majority of the clothes are just so lovely. I’m glad you didn’t feel that way about my sharing. Haha... yep I did get my money’s worth on my gucci all right. Now I’m contented with my brandless work bag that reminds me of miu miu pink.

    ~~~
    Rinny,
    Actually I also look like a little girl with jumpers. My facialist kept on saying I look really “young” that day (she knows my true age) and when I interacted with some people that day, they all thought that I was a student and was shocked to know I’ve been in the working field for years. It isn’t a good thing to look too young. Maybe I’ll only wear the jumper out with people who know me. How tall are you? You don’t look short at all. I’m 162cm and I thought we’re of the same height.
    Yup, the night shots weren’t grainy at all except for the fountain which look a bit blur but that’s coz I’ve to compress the file to fit the anigif into my blog. I’m quite impressed with it’s low light capturing ability.
    ~~~

    Nicole,

    Thank u. =)

    Frances,

    You’ve got mail! =)

    Rick,

    Ooh!!! Are you and your wife high school sweethearts? Denim overall always screams little girl or farmer to me. Haha... It’s so cute that it was what drew you to notice your wife.

    I’ve been on the hunt for denim overalls with has those clasp clips and with cloth higher up to cover the front and back. When I was 15, we had this relief PE (physical education) teacher who wore tube in her overalls and she’s just such a gorgeous lady. Together with her cool fashion style, all of us girls did not mind that all she did was tell us to borrow some PE equipment and engage in our own activities while she sat there looking so pretty. My cousin also once wore her overalls the same way when she was already a mum to a beautiful boy and she looked so stylish and not at all like a little girl. As for me, I can’t find such overalls anymore. Most of them tend to have long suspender straps that ends off in a shorts or skirt.

    Oh no worries about the straps. The bottom area of the jumper is just like shorts so even with both straps down, it fits like shorts and you needn’t be nervous. I was walking around with both straps down in my family home that day. Haha.. Or maybe the strap-down-look look itself makes one nervous.

  16. jass,

    Thank u! I always love to see newcomers here and hope to see you around more often.

    Lisa,

    Thank you for your compliments *blushes*

    ~~~
    Crystal Luvz,
    Oh man! Indeed it has run outta stock again! I’m sorry about informing you late. I guess it’s really not meant to be but to look on the bright side, money has been saved! =)
    ~~~

    sugar sugar,

    Haha I think a moving pic is called a gif too but I see normal pictures names as gif as well so I’m not sure about that and started using anigif as the softwate I use calls it “anigif”.

    Yes you look really tall in your photos. How tall are you? Oh and btw, you’ve got mail.

    ~~~
    Sharon,
    Sharon as in...? Am I thinking of the right “Sharon”?
    ~~~

    Yen,

    Aww... you needn’t feel bad or anything about being called Yen coz I can identify with you whether or not I can see you. It’s the feeling and vibes you know? When you’re fine in revealing yourself and if you happen to have a blog, you can leave me your link anytime!

    I replied to your other comment about how I love it when you disappear but come back with so many lovely comments to read all at once so you needn’t apologise at all.

    I’m not taking any courses on photography. I have interest in getting SLR but I look at the amount of money people spend on buying equipment, I stopped myself. My photo editing knowledge is nothing at all coz I use photoscape. I don’t even know how to use photoshop and I wanna learn but I’m too lazy to experiment when photscape seems good enough for basics.

    You prefer my photos to be individual? I actually prefer that too but collaging helps to save space in a way. I used to use blogger upload and I reached 98% of storage space. I started collaging them and it seems like it remained at 98% for a long time. I’ve since switched to photobucket due to large storage limit.

    I’m humbled to know that your English improved when you read my blog. It’s one of the best compliment ever and I’m glad it helped you. Actually when I speak, I do not speak very good English, just so that you know. =)

    ~~~
    Katherine,
    Thank u. I love it whenever newcomers visit and leave a mark. Hope to see you around.
  17. Hehe yeah you do look a lot younger with the jumper. I think anyone would though, just because most people tend to associate jumpers with little girls :D Oh wow I would have never guessed we are of similar height - you look much taller in your pictures! It's always nice to meet a fellow "petite" blogger :D
    ReplyDelete
  18. well aint you the cutest teacher I've ever seen. Love overalls. Love love love.
    I'm glad you decided to keep blogging but if you ever do have to shut this down because the student finds it, please don't stop talking to me at the very least :( I think there are some precautions you can take on keeping your blog away from private life. This is what I have done:
    ReplyDelete
  19. 1.remove any reference to your blog from your facebook profile. Did you know people can find your facebook just by typing your first name and your blog address in advanced search? Some reader messaged me by doing this. I have NEVER linked facebook to my blog, EVER. Eliminate the blog references from your facebook.
    2.Go into blogger settings and remove the ability for "search engines" and "blogger search" to find your page. This way nobody can accidentally find you by searching for you.
    3.You said some people you didn't want to see your blog now know about it? Why don't you just go into blogger settings and change your url. You don't have to delete anything - a simple url change will disconnect "iamjolene.blogspot" from going to the new link. All your old followers get your new address. And after you do #1 and #2 nobody can find it anymore.
    It's been pretty safe for me.
  20. If you're holding a Canon S90 I hate you btw :P
    I thought the mesh skirt with bow tie hair band was my favourite outfit so far :) I like. My style for sure.
    I laughed very hard when you said sudden firework bangs would scare you though LOL. How can it scare you!! You know it's going to happen! And yes "jai" is in cantonese... I don't understand mandarin at all but I think it's "zai".
    Please take care? please update again soon? Hmm?
  22. That camera is amazing! I can't believe such a small camera can produce such beautiful photos! Definitely a great buy! The jean jumper is definitely adorable and I think it also looks sexy but fashionable with one shoulder hanging down! hahaha I actually have another tea post coming up! Im glad I went to have tea before it started to rain here like mad, right now it's like a monsoon outside!
  23. MissKatz,
    Thank u. I love it whenever newcomers visit and leave a mark. Hope to see you around.
    ~~~

    Rinny,

    Haha... I do look taller, really? Yay! Similar for you when I see your height from photos , I feel that you look ok. Is 162cm considered petite? I read some petite blogger blogs and they’re all 155cm and below so I always have the impression that 140+ to 150+ are considered petite.

    ~~~
    Turtle,
    I’m holding S90’s predecessor S95. Hate me hate me! =P
    And... You’ve got mail!
    ~~~

    em.me.ma,

    Thank u. =)

    ~~~
    suki pooki,
    Thank u! Me like the one strap down look too since it’s accidentally fashionable and I like styles like this. Ooh! Goody! Another tea post. I’ve to make sure I’m not hungry when I read it. I hope you didn’t get caught in the rain after your tea.
    ReplyDelete
  24. Yeah that's what I thought too! I thought I was already pretty petite considering most of the girls here in the US are, on average, 162-165 cm tall. But when I started reading blogs like Frmheadtotoe and ExtraPetite, both of whom are less than 150cm tall, I am actually on the taller end compared to most petite bloggers :)
    ReplyDelete
  25. Phuong,
    Thanx.
    ~~~

    Rinny,
    Haha... Let’s set our own rules. Above 160cm is not petite. Hehe... It’s average. Over here, 160 seems to be the average height so at 162cm I’ll consider myself average since I’m taller than some guys when I wear heels. LoL
