Unhurried lunches, coincidental meeting and a 23-year-old boy

Ooh…. Please endure with me coz it’ll be photo-blogging again…
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Yesterday, we had a ball of a time.

As usual, it was busy at work. But colleagues decided that we should really make up for all the many less than half an hour lunches we had and went to pamper ourselves with a longer (Lv please close one eye hor… or both eyes also can.. heh) and more expensive (read: non-hawker, non-coffeeshop, non-foodcourt) lunch. We were all quite hungry for affordable Japanese food and so flocked down to Fiesta for their set meal promotion.

Food... Glorious food!!! Posted by Hello

Us & Food... Look at all of them smiling so unwillingly, mentally cursing me for insisting on taking a picture of us with the food when we are all dying of famine. Posted by Hello

Now for photos of my 3 wonderful colleagues-frenz… We took silly pictures on a few occasions, but there would definitely be the co.’s name or logo somewhere in the background so I wasn’t able to post them up. This time MUST post….

Did I get all of us? It’s a rule that everybody must pose with everybody.

And finally the 4 of us. Posted by Hello

It has been so difficult (difficult coz of me… sorry gal, I’m always so busy…) arranging a meet up with one of my good pals, Charlene that we were quite pleasantly surprised to bump into each other during lunch. I think we have not seen each other for almost 1 year. It was such a coincidence that I thought I must whip up my cam to take a picture of us.  Posted by Hello

Then for dinner, a bunch of JC mates decided to meet up at Menotti's to celebrate Teoks Birthday. So now he is a 23-year-old boy… Ahem man. That man was actually an hour late for his own birthday and “blamed” it on Tam but Tam had a balloon to make up for it.

Teoks the birthday boy with the funny balloon that threatened to shoot itself up the ceiling any minute.

Our dinner took ages to arrive so besides catching up with each other, what have we left to do but to shoot.

Party of 8. Posted by Hello

My Italian dinner tasted like bak chor mee. I did not take any photo of it coz yeah… it doesn’t look very appetizing but I was hungry and gobbled it up anyway.

So with not very appetizing dinner, we decided to shoot again while waiting for our very appetizing dessert to arrive. Alas, no photos of the dessert. The one which I shared with cousin Pauline was too coffee-ish. I think the rest of them had mouth-watering desserts. Anyway that place is well known for their desserts.

If I'm not wrong, this is the 1st time cuz decided to show her face for any JC gathering. Ta1 ke3 zhen1 shang3 lian3. Posted by Hello

Future bitchy lawyer and me.
Future as in lawyer. Present tense for bitchy. Haha... After not seeing her for 3 years, I seriously think she changed alot. I can really see the bitchy lawyer in her who would bring people from fame to shame. And after not seeing for 3 years, the first thing she said to me was “I saw you in the condo ad!” Huh?! What condo ad? Huh?How come I dunno? How much was I paid? Huh?! Lawyers ah… they can just say anything for what they say will become the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
You go gal!!!

The waiter who took this picture exclaimed, "Wooh! This is like watching a Hong Kong Movie."

J. and T. agreed that it looked like some advertisement for a new HK drama serial and started getting busy drafting out the convoluted plot. “So the 2 at the top left are the lead actor and actress who have a very hard time in the show… The dad and mum seated in the middle have a very weird relationship… they dislike each other… and the 2 gals flanked at both sides are their daughters… they may be evil, they may be good… dunno yet… rough plot mah… then the one on the top right is the bitchy mistress who tries to wreck the whole family. “And I’m the little servant girl!” exclaimed Tammy.

Ok that wasn’t exactly what they said but that was what I could remember. Bravo for on the spot creativity.

And so you see, we had a ball of a time.

Fairy tales do exist in real life…

However, do all the characters truly live happily ever after? We close the book after the line “And they live happily ever after”, thinking it is the final chapter. However, their lives still go on beyond the readers’ knowledge. Some of them do live happily ever after, and some of them don’t.

I strongly believe that there is a Cinderella story in every girl’s life.

Some girls found real princes.

Some girls found princes in their eyes.

Some girls’ princes are actually a half-half but never mind, as long as they are happy.

Many of you may not know that Cinderella and her prince have many differences and clashes in character. From their few years of relationship, they have grown with each other and learnt many lessons regarding love and relationship.

You can never find the perfect person. It is all about learning how to live with differences. Two people in a relationship complement each other and if they are too similar, there would certainly be clashes.

Up till now, Cinderella and her prince are still trying to work out some issues, slowly learning to live with each other’s beliefs, lifestyles, priority and ideals. As they grow with each other, I truly wish for them to live happily ever after.

For Mum who will never read this

For the past few days, I’ve been wondering what to get for Mother’s day.

People who have been talking to me these past few day would have known that Mum has been really very annoying lately. Even if you haven’t been talking to me these few days, you would know that Mum is always very annoying in my eyes most of the time.

Recently, she keeps on singing praises of one of my friends who bought her mum jewelry for Mother’s day. Heck, our parents should never have made friends with each other! (Friend, I know you read my blog and please don’t be mistaken, I’m not mad at you or anything.) She kept on saying my friend is going into MOE teaching and her pay is almost $1k higher than mine. Afterwhich, she goes on to tell me that friend A’s daughter bought what what what for her mother la, and friend B’s daughter’s boyfriend brought her out to eat at where where where la. And she goes on telling me stories EVERYDAY, after coming home from work and tuition feeling exhausted, fuelling more angst from me against her.

I find her really very irritating and I’m always very rude to her and curt in my replies whenever she tries to make small talk and peep at my computer screen just to find out what’s wrong with me for the past week. She even gesticulate with exaggerating actions to my sisters to “tell” them that there is something wrong with me and to find out what’s wrong, thinking I can’t see her stupid actions from the side of my eyes.

Despite feeling very irritated by her, I know that deep down she actually cares a lot. But I just can’t help feeling very irritated with her with all her expectations and what nots and when she does all the comparisons.

I really didn’t know what to buy. Money seems to be the best gift. Every mother’s day and birthday, I would give her money as that was the most practical, only to have her complain that we never give her anything. Sometimes I feel so wronged.

This year would be something different. I thought of getting her SK11 so that her skin can go “doink doink” like Sandy Lam’s. Her answering machine can also go “I’m doing facial so I can’t come to the phone right now.” Exactly like how Simon Yam’s wife Qi Qi’s answering machine would go. Then all her friends can gush about her fair and radiant and wrinkle-free skin and enquired if she has undergone laser treatment just like how Sammi Cheng’s friends would gush about.

And when I’ve finally made up my mind, she demanded $500 from me as monthly jia1 yong4. I was mad!! I was really very mad. Since when have my contribution increased to $500? I’m paid peanuts and I contributed more than $1k last month and the other month and all the other months coz you were really in need of money!! And all of a sudden my monthly contribution became $500, not even counting those I gave you each time I get my tuition pay? You compare us with your friends' children who are earning loads more than us. Have you even stopped and think how we have stopped taking pocket money from you since school days and how we worked or give tuition to earn our pocket money at the expense of our studies?

I would be glad to contribute more, but please understand that I don’t earn that much. Moreover, I’m already an adult who needs my own savings too. I don’t want to end up like you all.

I was so mad that I parted with the wad of cash very unwillingly and told her “I’ve got no more money to buy you anything for Mother’s Day.”

She went into her room and cry silently… Something which is out of the ordinary because usually she would cry openly and wallow herself in self-pity and start lamenting on her fate and how heartless we are.

Although I’m still mad at her, I felt bad yesterday and decided to buy her a cake and throw in some cash in the voucher envelope that came free with the cake. I got my sis to throw in some cash too. The actions were subtle but she was really very happy and I felt happy too… For making someone’s day.

Mum, I know I was rude to you again just now. I know you love all of us a lot and we love you too. Just that our actions and speech don’t really indicate this. We all have different ways of showing our love. You happen to show your love and concern in ways which irritates us. We show ours in ways which upsets you unwittingly. But ultimately, we all love you.

My Godson

Yesterday I went to visit dear friend Cynthia and my godson, Jase. It has been almost a year since I last saw him. Such a lousy godma right?

This godma keeps pushing back meet ups with her dear friend for many Tuesdays (I lost count) because she can never finish her materials on time to meet up.

This godma was somewhat upset when she found out she wasn’t the only godma.

But this godma has no reason to complain as she was so busy with work that she even missed his 1st month birthday and realized it only like a few days later. Bad bad bad!!!

This godma cannot afford to lavish her godson with gifts like what most godmas would do.

This godma has never done her part as a godma at all.

This godma has been so busy with work and so occupied every weekend that she even neglects other important people in her life. But that is another story which may or may not be told some other day. Or maybe that is pure assumption on her part.

So back to this story…

This godma feels that she has been so irresponsible and heartless. But at last, she managed to take some time off her busy schedule and dropped by to visit her dear godson yesterday… with the intention of “disowning” him.

But after she saw him, she changed her mind totally.

He looked too cute and innocent that she decided not to “disown” him.

Albeit having a ku3 gua1 lian3, he is really very adorable. You should see him in action. I took a cute video of him greedily eating a piece of mango. But I don’t know how to post it up here so let’s look at photos for now…

See... a post dedicated to your Jase Jase, ain't I a good godma? *Heh* I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Cynthia Mummy for her listening ear, for her married individual p.o.v of certain issues, for her kind understanding and support. I truly enjoyed my short visit yesterday and it puts all the warmth and fuzzy feeling back in me... something which has been empty in my heart for days.

I will try my best to visit you and Jase Jase more often... I promise.
