Bye Bye 2013. Hello 2014.

December has been such a busy month full of nothing but preparation for the festive season and meeting up with many good people. I almost wished that 2013 would not come to an end.

For once, work has taken a back seat in this more cheerful month of December. Although I wasn't on long leave like many others, being in the office in December was a lot more relaxing than all the hectic months before that. In fact, I was glad to be busy being happy. 2014 would be a very challenging year for our whole department, organizing a major national event and many more tasks to come. On a personal scale, there would also be challenging tasks ahead. I'm hoping to catch a little more rest before the year ends (yeah... like in a few hour's time).

I would most probably spend New Year's Eve counting down in my sleep. I've been lacking quite a lot of sleep during the pre-Christmas season up till now. Today's NYE half day was spent walking part of the Southern Ridges with some people in my department, followed by a farewell lunch for a colleague.

As I'm typing this, my headache is getting worse. Moreover, the hubz is down with a bad virus after his overseas work trip and he is raging a high fever now. My heart breaks to see him so sick and I guess I would join him to sleep our NYE away. Our bodies are probably protesting about the way we treat them.

I hope to wake up to a cheery 2014 tomorrow. I would need some me-time cooping myself at home coz the past week had been full of going out and meeting up with friends. Hopefully, I would be able to start a blog post chronicling on the whole festive season.

On the last day of 2013, I would like to say this:

Thanks to those who hated me, they made me a stronger person.
Thanks to those who loved me, they made my heart bigger.
Thanks to those who were worried about me, they let me know that they actually cared.
Thanks to those who left me, they made me realize that nothing lasts forever.
Thanks to those who entered my life, they made me who I am today.
Just want to thank all of you for being here in my life!

As we usher in the year 2014, let us all be wiser, and be grateful for our blessings.

  6. oh nooooo!! i hope both you and the hubs feel better soon!! i've been knocked out with the flu since christmas too it's awful i feel like death lolol!!

cheers to 2014!!! excited to see what the new year will hold (and i desperately need to get back on the diet wagon lol)

so sweet thank you for the sweet comments you made about me and the hubs hehe.. actually you know it's funny you mention it.. i've been thinking about trying out daily disposables because it's harder to get infections with it.. and just like you said it's more breathable.. i agree i think it would have looked better without glasses with my formal ball gown!!

i wanted to ask you you wear colored contacts a lot.. are those disposable?? or no? and which colored contacts do you use??

    1. Hey Lisa, There are periods of time when I wore my coloured contacts a lot -- sometimes when I'm travelling (vain pot wanna look good in photos... hahaha), during some festive seasons and special occasions. The reason being, my coloured contacts are 1-month disposable so I would try to make full use of a coloured pair once I open it.

Coloured contacts are not made to be worn on a daily basis so you have to give your eyes some rest in between by wearing normal clear contacts or glasses. There are also daily disposable coloured ones though those available here dont have such variety and pretty shades of colours. Coloured contacts are a lot less breathable due to more layers sealing in the colours.

If your eyes are super sensitive, you might wanna try Acuvue TruEye. A few months after my cornea infection, my eyes could not even take clear contact lens and so the optometrist suggested TryEye. It is the most breathable with most water content out of many in the market. I had a second opinion with the eye specialist who backed this up too.

I use FreshKon as I personally feel this brand of coloured lens causes the least irritation. I know many beauty bloggers love using Geo lens and other Jap, Korean, TW lens bought online. They are very much cheaper but I'm just wary of fakes around. My last cornea infection was after I wore a pair bought from a reputable online store.

Sorry, I took some time to get back to you. Hope this helps! =)

  8. Thank you for the lovely comment! I followed you back on GFC. I'm sorry to hear the readership of your god daughters blog has fallen, that's sad to hear when it could teach people so much and her story should not go forgotten. Your friend not updating as much has probably meant a lot of readers are not coming back to read the new content - but that might be for the best as keeping the blog updated often may cause more pain and prevent your friend from moving on/getting over a very painful thing - not that it is anything one can ever get over - but you know what I mean, I hope.

I really hope you and the husband feel better soon and manage to have a wonderful start to 2014 - a duvet day with plenty of soup and old movies sounds perfect - you should do it and give yourself a rest!

    1. Hey Corinne, Thanx for following. I really love it when there's meaningful 2-way conversation with my readers and fellow blog friends. I know what you mean and that's really very sweet and kind of you to pen out those words about my god daughter, Charmaine and my good friend, Cyn. I hope the first week of 2014 has been treating you well!

  17. Happy New Year, Jo. Hope you all recover soon. I hate sickness during winter months, for some reason it feels more miserable. Totally agree how quiet it got at work in December, really enjoy peace and quiet times. I am not quite ready for everyone to come back next Monday. Love everything that says in that first pic, so true to heart.
